Bryan will share some strategies for building literacy-centred units of study with cross-curricular potential. He will demonstrate how he chooses an anchor text and builds incremental learning to maximize literacy development for all learners. He will share some perspectives on combining fiction and non-fiction text into a unit of study and designing projects and presentations that are natural extensions of the learning. The particular unit of study that Bryan will share focuses around myths, legends, and cultural stories and culminates in students delivering dramatic storytelling presentations.
Participants are encouraged to bring highlighters and / or different coloured pens to participate in the session and are encouraged to bring a device.
